Simon Cowell: “Look, just when I think you can’t be any nicer, then I see what you do at work as well. I mean, you are an extraordinary human being, Michael, I have to tell you. I’m gonna send a shout-out to somebody right now and that person is Garth Brooks. Garth, if you’re watching the show, please write Michael a song for the Final if he makes it into the Final. I just have this feeling about you two having a connection. I hope he gets this message because I want to see you in the Final with a killer song to make your dreams come true, Michael. I really want it to happen. You deserve it. You really, really deserve it. We’ll see what happens.”

Mel B: “You just really touched my everything. It’s like you’re talking to me, you’re singing to me, I relate to you. I love what you do for the mental health. I suffer from that, too. So I just feel like you’re just gonna connect. I want you to go through because I have to hear that voice again. You’re just so real and honest. I’m just floored.”

Heidi Klum: “I mean, you really are a special person. And I feel also that every time we’ve seen you, you’ve become better and better and better. I feel like you’re more free, you feel more whole on the stage. Your wife, your kids, and everyone around you must be so very proud of you.”

Howie Mandel: “You know they say 99% of success is showing up. And I’m not talking about showing up on this stage, I’m talking about showing up in life and facing things that are hard. You deserve every hope, every dream you have. You’re a good human being. You’re a great talent and America deserves to be watching you and listening to you far beyond this show.”

In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Simon’s golden buzzer act Michael Ketterer (he also made Simon cry!) was the next to perform with a rendition of ‘When I Look at You’ by Miley Cyrus. The song was another sentimental and inspirational one that with the piano accompaniment and his gritty soft rock vocal really created a great moment that touched Mel this week. In his critique, Simon asked Garth Brooks to please write a song for Michael to sing during the finals because he feels like he’s deserving of a great song. Would love to see that happen!”
